What are the Conversation Cards?

The Conversation cards are a resource to assist people in their support conversations by providing helpful prompts and ideas to get the conversation started, including:

  • Exploring key NDIS topics for discussion
  • Building trust and safety
  • Establishing a shared understanding
  • Exploring next steps
  • Translating key terms, agreeing on a plan and making progress

When do I use them?

The Conversation Cards can be used during a support or planning conversation to make sure that the right questions are being asked, and the topics that are important to the person and be discussed.

You can also use them on your own to prepare for an important or difficult conversation to get a clear picture of what is needed.

You can use them to:
  • To reflect on where you’re at and where you need to go next.
  • To come up with ideas about what’s important to you.
  • To put into words the action you need to take.
  • To help you name or get clear on what you might want or need.
Who are they for?

Anyone can use the Conversation Cards.
Use them on your own to or with anyone from your circle of support.

  • NDIS participants
  • People with mental ill health
  • Support Coordinators
  • Psychologists
  • Allied Health Workers
  • Family, friends or carers
How do I use them?

Use these cards any way you like to help you have better conversations.

Here are some suggested ways:

  • Pick one or more cards that are important to include in your conversation.
  • Pick one or more of each colour and discuss them in order.
  • Pick an Important Conversation topic cards to focus on one area.
  • You can talk about the cards and take notes to review later.
